The way how kitchen hood filters are used and cared for, changes from model to model.
This is why it is necessary to be familiar with the various types and to understand how to deal with them in a functional manner so as to allow the best possible performance of the hood they are installed on.
Washing, regeneration and replacement of filters are necessary actions that bring many benefits such as improved operation of the cooker hood and its preservation over time, ensuring better air quality for a better home comfort.
Standard carbon filters do not require any special maintenance during their life.
Once exhausted, they must be replaced, as they are not regenerable.
For optimum hood functionality, replacement is recommended every 3-6 months, depending on the use.

High-efficiency and washable carbon filters are long-lasting because they can be regenerated.
To regenerate these filters in cooker hoods, it is necessary to wash them in the dishwasher at the highest temperature (70°), using a common detergent, and then place them for 1 hour in an oven at 90°C.
We recommend washing the filter alone, without any other dishes.
To ensure maximum performance of the charcoal filter in ordinary use of the cooker hood and to make it last longer, we recommend regeneration at least once every two months.
It should be noted that the carbon filter after progressive regeneration cycles tends to decrease its odour absorption capacity. As an indication, it is always recommended to replace the filter after
- 3 years of use for the high efficiency filter (HP)
- 2 years of use for the WASHABLE filter

In order to last, grease filters must be cleaned periodically depending on the intensity of use: washing at least once every 3 months is recommended.
They can be washed by hand with water and a detergent suitable for cleaning cooking grease, using cloths and protective gloves, or directly in the dishwasher.
It is important not to use products containing chlorides, especially hydrochloric acid.
In some cases, however, kitchen hood filters need to be permanently replaced.
The need for replacement is necessary when the filter is completely clogged and odours are not captured as effectively as before.
In such cases, it is important to change the filter as soon as possible, because otherwise the cooker hood will not work to the best of its capacity and the motor may be damaged due to overstraining.
